Is it squirrels, mice or something else?
Getting the diagnosis right matters. One customer’s brother was told by another company that the noise in his attic was mice. Poison was put down, and ten days later he was still hearing scratching. Then an animal punched a hole through his living room ceiling. When we came out, Justin “came right out and diagnose[d] the problem, a squirrel. He went up in the attic and then the roof,” and came up with a fix. As his sister put it: “Wish we found them first!”
Common clues that point to squirrels:
- Daytime noise, especially early morning and late afternoon. Squirrels are active by day, while raccoons and mice are mostly active at night.
- Chewed holes in soffits, fascia, roof vents, gable vents or where two rooflines meet.
- Nesting material (leaves, shredded insulation) in the attic or soffits.
- Squirrels running along power lines or overhanging branches to your roof.
Why squirrels in the attic are a problem
Squirrels chew constantly, and that includes wiring, wood, roof vents and ductwork. Chewed wiring is a fire risk. They also contaminate insulation with droppings and urine, and they often have two litters a year, so a small problem grows quickly. A squirrel that dies in a wall leaves an odor problem too.
How we remove squirrels
1. Inspect the whole roofline
We find the main entry hole and every other weak spot: vents, soffit returns, gaps at the chimney and roof-to-wall joints.
2. Remove the squirrels
We usually install a one-way exclusion device at the main entry so the squirrels can leave but not return. Where that won’t work, we use live trapping. We check for babies before closing anything up.
3. Seal and repair
After the squirrels are out, we repair the chewed openings and squirrel-proof the vents and gaps they’re likely to try next, using materials they can’t chew through. See wildlife exclusion and prevention.
4. Clean up if needed
If nesting material, droppings or damaged insulation have built up, our attic restoration service removes it and gets the attic back in shape.

Squirrel removal FAQs
Will squirrels leave on their own?
Not usually. Once a squirrel has a warm, dry nest in your attic, it will stay, and it may raise young there. Even if it leaves, the hole invites the next one.
Do you use poison?
No, never. We’re 100% humane. Poisoned animals often die inside walls or ceilings, which causes odor problems, puts pets and other wildlife at risk, and doesn’t fix the entry point.
Can I just close the hole?
If you seal a squirrel inside, it will chew a new way out, sometimes into your living space. Make sure all the squirrels are out first, including babies.
How much does squirrel removal cost?
It depends on the number of entry points and how much repair and cleanup are needed. We inspect and give you a free estimate.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes. Our work comes with a 5-year warranty. Your technician will go over the details with your estimate.
